Ron’s love of photography started at age 9 with an old Yashica camera that his Uncle Russ gave him for Christmas. That day, he snapped his first dog photo of his shelter dog Niki and he hasn’t stopped taking pictures since.
Ron is graduate of the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California and spent a number of years working in New York City, assisting high profile fashion and celebrity photographers. While working with supermodels was exciting, he was drawn to more conceptual images and branched out in 1999 to open his own commercial photography studio.
Fast forward to 2004 when Ron created a holiday card for his clients featuring his yellow lab, Indy, carrying a pine tree on her back. The image was an instant hit and Ron realized he had found his niche capturing man’s best friend.
Loose Leashes was launched in May 2005 and since, Ron’s whimsical dog images have captured the hearts of dog lovers worldwide. His images can be found on products throughout stationary, home décor, apparel and publishing categories. A strong believer in giving back, Ron donates a portion of proceeds from all sales to support pet shelters and animal welfare causes.
